VM Deployer 1.7 Released with GUI Enhancements: Best Tool to Import and Export Virtual Machines

Here is another release of VM Deployer – version 1.7. It includes the following features and fixes, most of which are GUI related for greater convenience and elegance. I am pretty confident this tool is now the most intuitive and most convenient tool available now for deploying and exporting virtual machines, even though the initial design goal was to work around vSphere Web Client which cannot deploy our search engine product.

1. Generate export command lines for both pure java command and ovftool. Now you will have the round trip command line generation feature. The Java command line is there already in 1.6, but we did not support command generation then.
2. Save vCenter server and username for later use. Once you connect to a vCenter, we’ll remember it for you so that you can later pick it from a drop down list.
3. Drag and Drop for the OVA/OVF files. If you drag an OVA or OVF file from file explorer, you can drop it into the OVF/OVA field. Not a big feature, but could be a good convenience.
4. Added total number of VMs in the virtual machine list. It’s a good information when there are hundreds of VMs in the inventory.
5. Checking the power states for VM export, un-register, deletion.
6. Wait cursor for long operations like refresh virtual machine list, batch power operations.
7. Exclude VM template from the virtual machine list for user selection. We may include VM templates later but when we can do something about them.

Time to learn how to "Google" and manage your VMware and clouds in a fast and secure
